Birth Injuries - Erb's Palsy

Erb's palsy, also called Erb-Duchenne palsy, is generally defined as a paralysis or partial paralysis of the arm caused by nerve injury. Erb's palsy is most commonly caused by shoulder dystocia during birth.
Shoulder dystocia occurs when one of the infant's shoulders cannot easily pass below the mother's cartilage joint between her left and right pubic bones, usually resulting in significant handling and manipulation by the doctor to help ease passage.
If your newborn child has Erb's palsy due to medical malpractice or negligence, you could be entitled to receive compensation. In some cases, the paralysis caused by Erb's palsy will dissipate entirely. In other cases, the child could suffer permanent damage or could require extensive therapy and even surgery.
You could be able to obtain compensation for the losses you have suffered as a result of medical malpractice. Contact a San Diego injury attorney at our firm today.
